These are very valid observations. After having used both Perplexity and Scispace for months I have identified some consistent problems with both.
The quality of the articles that they recommend may not be what is acceptable in academia. I have seen predatory journal's articles being recommended and some articles which are recommended don't even open up or the link is broken. The ease with which these tools perform a literature search and present a nice little summary is very tempting but if you leave your critical thinking hat behind you'll land in serious trouble
