15 Inspirational Voices in the Space Between AI and Education
Get Inspired for AI and The Future of Education.
If you are just back from vacation and still not quite sure what to do about AI, let me assure you that you are not the only one.
My advice for you today is this: fill your LinkedIn-feed and/or inbox with ideas, inspirational writing and commentary on AI.
This will get you up to speed quickly and is a great way to stay informed on the newest movements you need to be aware of.
My personal recommendation for you is to check out these bright people who are all very active on LinkedIn and/or have a newsletter worth paying attention to.
I have kept the list fairly short - only 15 people - in order to make it as easy as possible for you to begin exploring.
Here goes:
Amanda Bickerstaff is the Founder and CEO of AI for Education. Former high school biology teacher turned edtech executive, Amanda generously shares her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that AI can offer.
Dan Fitzpatrick is a bestselling author who also writes the newsletter The AI Educator. Great newsletter for actionable tips and tricks to AI in education.
Leon Furze is a seasoned consultant who is currently pursuing a PhD on the impact of Generative AI in education and writing instruction. Do follow him on LinkedIn. Highly recommended.
Stefan Bauschard describes himself as Natural language conversationalist; Cofounder, educating4ai.com; Owner, DebateUS.org; Executive Co-Director, New York City Urban Debate League. Darren Coxon is the Chief Operating Officer at Britus Education. Darren’s Substack is the place to go for frequent updates on experiments with AI tools in the classroom. Check this one out: Using Claude and Zapier Interfaces to Create Bespoke Essay Helper Bots.
Jason Gulya offers insights and thoughts on AI in the classroom on LinkedIn and in his podcast. Jason’s daily posts on LinkedIn are sometimes provocative and always inspirational. A voice to follow for sure.
Brian Johnsrud is the Director of Education Learning & Advocacy at Adobe. He often talks about innovative educational opportunities for educators and learners.
Russell John Cailey is the CEO of THINK Learning Studio (THINK GLOBAL School). He talks about scaling Problem Based Learning, amongst other things. Check out this post.
Dr. Nick Jackson is the Leader of Digital Technologies at Scotch College, Adelaide. Nick frequently shares his thoughts and unapologetically relate some of the negative implications of AI, too.
Rachel Woods is not an expert on education per se, but she IS an expert on all things AI. Rachel is the CEO of The AI Exchange, and her posts offer perspectives on AI that are both relevant for and applicable to education.
Dwayne Matthews is a strategist on the future of education. His frequent posts on LinkedIn offer fresh ideas and insightful perspectives on where we are all headed in the educational landscape.
Sofia Fenichell, Founder and CEO Study Hall, AI-Powered Study Halls for K-12, Advisory Board of Common Sense Media, GP Bullhound Entrepreneur of the Year Shortlisted, 2x Edtech Cool Tool Finalist. Sofia speaks on many topics between AI and education with great authority.
Michael Sankey is Professor and Director, Learning Futures and Lead Education Architect at Charles Darwin University. He specialises in technology enhanced learning, digital credentials, curriculum renewal, and online pedagogies, amongst other things.
Conor Grennan is Dean of Students, NYU Stern School of Business and a NY Times and #1 Int'l bestselling author. Conor is Head of GenerativeAI@Stern, a no-tech initiative aimed at fostering generative AI fluency in Stern’s students, faculty, and administration.
Ethan Mollick is the name you probably already knew. But there is no getting around this Wharton Professor who leads the conversation about AI in the classroom. His Substack One Useful Thing is a must-read.
